This website module has been created by Judith O'Rourke, Christy Roe and Karla Olmos.
Engaging with the digital environment requires students to have an understanding of key areas of digital citizenship. Effective digital literacy skills should be explicitly taught by both the Teacher Librarian and further supported and embedded by the classroom teacher within their lesson planning, delivery and evaluation of their pedagogy to support students within a digital learning environment, to find, select and store sources using digital tools and copyright principles.
In this website, educators can select the pages provided base on the relevant stage of ability for student(s): ‘Foundation’ (overall foundations for the digital learning environment as well as for primary age or beginners), Consolidation’ (early high school or moderately able), or ‘Utilisation’ (upper high school, fine tuning), as well as the curated content provided on the 'Curated Content' page.
Methods for reflective best practice and evaluation of quality teaching are provided via links on on the ‘Evaluation’ page.
Further reading and references can be located on the ‘References’ page.
